Our editorial principles
A commitment to independent reporting, clear sourcing, and your right to form your own view.
Independent judgement
Our editorial decisions serve readers. Advertising and commercial relationships never determine how a story is reported. Advertising slots are clearly labelled and kept apart from editorial content, and sponsored material is always identified.
Facts, with context
We distinguish reporting from opinion, identify sources wherever possible, and make room for relevant perspectives. Every story carries a visible type: news, analysis, opinion, explainer, feature or coverage comparison. A headline must faithfully represent the story beneath it.
Original reporting and The Full Picture
Original reporting is produced by our own reporters and editors. The Full Picture is different: it compares how several outlets covered the same event. Each comparison cites at least two distinct outlets, gives our own summary, notes how each outlet’s coverage differs, and links to the original article on the outlet’s own site.
We never reproduce an outlet’s full article text, and we do not label outlets as left, right or politically biased, and we publish no reliability scores. Where we reuse a thumbnail, it carries a credit naming the outlet.
How summaries are produced
Summaries are written and checked by our editors. Software may help find related coverage or prepare a draft, but anything automated or AI-assisted stays a draft until an editor approves it, and it is disclosed to readers. Drafts and held stories never appear in public pages or search results.
Corrections and accountability
When a material error is found, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections appear on the corrected story itself, with a note of what changed and the date, and the story shows an “Updated” time.
To request a correction, use the contact page and choose “Correction”. Include the article title or link, the detail you believe is wrong and any supporting sources.
